(Sorry if this appears twice. The first attempt didn’t seem to take.)

Anyway, hope you had a wonderful time in New Orleans, one of my favorite cities in the world. My partner and I don’t always have great luck with food in strange places, but we could not find a bad meal in New Orleans when we visited there last year at this time. I also love how walkable it is, which is a bonus for pretty much any urban destination.

Also, the obituary cocktail is one of the more accurately named beverages in the mixologist’s lexicon. Lordy.

    Welcome back, and congratulations!

Thanks for the warm welcome, everybody.

I don’t think bad meals exist in New Olreans. And the walkability was a good thing—on our first attempted trip to the zoo, the streetcar line was completely shut down by a streetcar/SUV wreck, and we had to make a grueling trek on foot for miles, only to discover the zoo was closing by the time we arrived. (This was after we’d tried to take a ferry to the zoo, only to discover that the ticker sellers had neglected to inform us the ferry to the zoo is on hiatus till the end of January!)

We didn’t get an obituary cocktail, although we did sample the famous hurricane, whose alcoholic effect was hardly reminiscent of a hurricane.
