Peiratikos Gamos

As a quick update-cum-apology for my lack of recent content, I give you this:

wedding welcome sign

On Saturday at noon, Steven and I took care of his health insurance needs and made two families happy in a lovely wedding. We’ll try to post some pictures once they arrive, and hope to get back to much more regular blogging soon now that this is all out of the way at last. We are two very, very happy bloggers right now.

    Congratulations!!

    Also, nice choice on caterer.

  2. Bryan Lee O'Malley says:

Congratulations. I like “Curtain” on the sign. I was actually planning to name someone “Rose Curtain” in Scott Pilgrim at some point, because it’s an intriguing name. What exactly is a rose curtain? Is it just a curtain with pictures of roses on it?

I hope married life treats you well. Are you keeping your name, or becoming a Berg?

Also–that’s the best wedding photo ever!

  9. Tom Bondurant says:

Congratulations! I’m sure there are many years of bliss to come!

And forget White Castle — is that “Montgomery Inn” the home of the famous ribs?

    — 6 December 2004 at 12:47 pm (Permalink)

  10. Rose says:

Thanks, everybody! Tom, that is the Montgomery Inn, though that’s not where the wedding was. We were next door. But yes, we were surrounded by Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky food traditions with the Montgomery Inn, LaRosa’s Pizzeria, Skyline Chili and Graeter’s ice cream all nearby. We had the latter two for our personal post-wedding dinner, but all of them are very tasty!

And Mal, I’m going to stay Rose Curtin and not even bother with changing the spelling to suit the sign. I don’t think my parents ever thought of the “rose curtains” issue when naming me, or at least they never told me about it. I would periodically have people say, “I have rose curtains in my bedroom!” but I think they probably meant creamy pink rather than covered with roses. It’s a good name, though, and it’s served me well. Rose Berg, I think, is not so good.

As a kid, I hated that I always got presents with pictures of roses, but I guess I’ve grown out of that by now, and people don’t give me rose-things as much. I did, though, when very small think that my name gave me some sort of magical affinity with rosebushes and so when we’d play hide-and-seek I’d hide in the wild rosebush, which wouldn’t prick me (much), but none of the other kids would come in after me.

  12. Johnny B says:

And on the subject of the name “Rose”, at least you have a not-bad Mott The Hoople song that bears your name! :)

  13. Dave Intermittent says:

    Congratulations, the both of you.

Mmmm … Graeter’s and Skyline is truly a wedding feast to savor!

  15. Bill Sherman says:

    Congratulations to you both!

  16. Milo George says:

Mozel Tov, kids! Rose, you should really consider changing your last name to Berg and your middle name to something that starts with N so that when you tell a stranger your name, they’ll hear “Rosenberg” and then ask you what your first name is. It’ll always be amusing, I just know it.

  20. Shane says:

Congrats!!! Nice to see my two favorite bloggers tying the knot!

  21. Jamesmith3 says:

I would love to congratulate you, but you’ve struck me dumb with fear. The babies you make will be building time machines by the age of five, and levitating the Pentagon with nothing but the combined power of their prodigious intellects. You have doomed us all.

But, until that day, I wish you the best!

  22. Steven Berg says:

Thanks for the congrats, all. James, uh, don’t worry—that won’t be a problem for the forseeable future.
